Project Partners

  • Ceiba is developing the project with Rio Energy, also a Denham-backed company. Rio Energy is an established renewable energy developer in Brazil with 629 MW in PPAs and 2.4 GW in the development pipeline
  • Partnered with global gas supply & transportation and energy marketing & LNG shipping companies
  • EPC services provided by leading global OEM and construction firms

Plant Site Characteristics

  • Site permitted for ~2.2 GW
  • Ideal location to connect to existing port (15 km away) for gas pipeline and water intake/discharge
  • Port already set up for LNG, with ability to receive largest FSRU (up to 265,000 m3)
  • Transmission line ~5 km to existing substation

Project Benefits

  • 1) The plant will provide reliable and firm electricity for the region compared to intermittent hydro, wind, and solar
  • 2) 3,000 direct jobs created during 34-month construction period, and 75 direct employees during operations phase
